If so you probably cherish it and regard it as a valuable asset. But to retain its value for you and your family in the future and to continue to provide further years of pleasure it needs to be well maintained. The Blüthner Repair and Restoration Service offers a unique and specialised service rebuilding fine grand pianos. The repair and restoration service is operated by Blüthner Piano Centre Ltd. As we are a subsidiary company of Blüthner Pianofortefabrik GmbH in Leipzig, we are in a unique position to use genuine replacement felts and materials which are not generally obtainable. Why may work be necessary on my piano? |
|
|
A piano is not constructed like a violin and therefore does not improve with age. Over the years the tone, the touch and the general responsiveness of the instrument does decline. Hammer felts become worn, soft felts become hard, the strings can lose their resonance and moths can attack the felts. The soundboard can become damaged by central heating which can also affect the stability of the tuning. The casework too can so easily assume a shabby and tired appearance. |
